AI is created by the left brain. The right brain cannot translate thought into language. So SAI will only experience the right brain and lambic system as Plato’s Shadow. Maybe not so important, but I think the limbic system originates motivational, fear, anger, love, sympathetic and parasympathetic responses, autonomic functions and the judgement mechanism to control and rebalance the perception of reality.
We a robot squeezes my arm too tightly while catching me from a fall, and I say angrily, “hey that hurts.” How will the AI translate that word with some perception of pain and maybe think that the anger and pain must feel the same, but will not really be able to experience, firsthand, the feeling which may be the fundamental gap of AI having true empathy even though it acts empathetic.
