Just pull out a napkin, paper, or even a thin piece of cardboard to sketch what you want in the moment then transfer it to another sheet. Continue this until you develop your own style and even have quick sketch references of your favorite art (classical, folk, and realism should be first before cartoon for anatomy mistakes to be avoided).
