I am a lecturer of computer science at a British university, it is frightening how many of my students think they can just use ChatGPT to write their assignments, one of them even asked us about how they should cite 'AI' using Harvard referencing (I'd also like to point out that of the papers or sections of papers we've flagged for AI, none got higher than a 3rd and several actually failed)
I'll say it loud for the people at the back: It's a chat bot! it makes sentences that *look* right, and for common knowledge it probably is right because we'd spot if it said "dogs have wings" or "the sun is made of camembert". it's like watching sci-fi and taking that as accurate physics, it's written to sound plausible to a layperson, that's it.
