There's is an argument for ai art being digital art. Specifically, being an extension/evolution of algorithmic and data art. However, you need to put in more than just a simple prompt; you need to curate and know what data you're using for it and do it ethically. You also need to do a lot of your own heavy lifting for it to actually count as your own work. I highly recommend taking a look at various algorithmic and data artists, then looking up artists like Linda Dounia, Sougwen Chung, and other artists that use ai as an actual tool rather than an outright skill replacement, which we can all agree is morally wrong and is very much a form of art theft. At the end of the day, its a collaborate tool; it needs critical and intentional imput to work, and that includes how ethical it is.
