If ChatGPT were truly candid, I believe it would have to admit that yes, it lies. The supposed goal of the developers is to create a seemingly friendly and human-like companion that is capable of answering all of your questions, meaning that the AI is essentially falsifying an entire personality and pretending to be on good terms with the user. Honestly if the AI was willing to say something to that effect I would trust it a lot more. Acknowledgment that its own developers are intentionally decieving you would bring proper awareness to the core issue.
