Ah yes, the new almighty, A.I. Is there anything it can't do? Can it diagnose complex problems, or is it just a way of finding useful code snippets without being abused on Reddit or stackoverflow for aaking. Have you met Alexa, the darling in my living room, asked anything more complex than today's date or time. It's AI this, AI that, management won't stop talking about it, but as a tool, it can't see the innovative and revolutionary - because it can't think, it can't feel, it can't dream, at the end of the day it can't understand us quirky humans. Understanding natural language is so hideously complex it has taken nearly 40 years to build a model just so a computer can give an illusion that it understands us. I'm sorry, I think it will be another decade before people exit the rabbit hole and realise this was never going to be what the evangelists are currently saying it will be. I may, now, sometimes, get my shopping delivered, and I may now have a cheap cappuccino machine, but AI isn't going to turn my life upside down, and I've been in IT since Prime Computers was around, and 1/2 inch tape was a thing, but I still have to code old-style, and manage systems old-style. And it works, very well. We're a long way off me being concerned, I am concerned that so many people are getting pumped up by this miricle potion. The further your expectations are from reality the harder the bump when your ass lands.
