I'm sorry, but are we here pretending authors aren't inspired by each other? No author read another's book and was like: "Ha, that's a great idea, let me write that down!" Of course they were. AI just does the same thing faster. I don't understand this pursuit of artistic purity at all. If you are creating something that is genuinely original, ai is not able to do that. Its a statistical model based on matrixes, its not able to create. It just sort of fits words together (in case of writing, image generation is slightly different). So all it is, is a collection of data. I simply see 0 issue with it as far as artistic expression goes. In fact, it helped me and I bet that it also helped a lot of others flash out their own work. Creating a dialogue with a fictional character that you find hard to do through roleplay, describing scenery on the fly for your dnd group, turning your words into actual imagery, etc... It opened so many avenues for artistic expression that I struggle to understand the negativity.
