Instead of hyper focusing on if someone used something or not? The past few years the art space has been consumed with these debates. People that used to create actual content now just talk about Ai. Consumers that used to share work from one of their fav artists now shared the “Ai artist” that they “caught”. It’s consuming all the creative energy for something that ultimately doesn’t matter. Yes there’s issue and concerns when money gets involved, but art isn’t about money. Creating isn’t about money. That’s why it feels like an uphill battle. Art isn’t intended as an economic device. Media has made generations think this is the value of creation. It’s not. You’re gonna struggle to utilize it as a financial tool unless you sell yourself short. It start with using a color in a design because you know your fanbase likes it, next thing you know all your creation time is making things you don’t have much interest in, it’s just what the customers want. Capitalism has fully corruoted what people think art is. When creative conversation becomes all about the ethics of the tools being used it’s lost the plot. Now there’s generations of kids paralyzed to create because all they hear is this dumb debate. “These companies and corporations are always going to be after money and profits” yes, because that’s their purpose. You creating, it’s not so you can make money. That’s not the purpose, that’s not what creativity is. Our fundamentally understanding is so mangled and mutilated that nobody talks about why they created what they did anymore but how. I don’t give af how you created it. I really don’t at this point. Just give me something that goes beyond the surface. These cons are full of others just repeating popular IP. That’s not any better guys. It’s taking from actual expression and turning it into a product. Your picture of your fav anima character isn’t superior because it was drawn by hand, it’s still empty. Ask that artist why they drew that and it’s gonna come down to “cause I could sell it”. That’s not any reason to use our incredibly powerful ability to create. Your creative centers are being attacked and you guys are walking right into it. Understand this dialogue is online dialogue. Nobody artists in the real world care what you use. They care what you made and why. Something beyond “oh it’s my favorite character”. Just create fir the sake of creating. Try it, try to make a beautiful piece that will never ever be sold. In fact, better yet, create a beautiful piece that will be burned the moment you’re done with it. I can feel the panic of the people reading this considering that idea. “But if I don’t even take a picture, how will anyone know I made it?! 😱” That’s the point. Make art to express yourself not to garner attention, or feed your public persona of being an “artist” I know none of you will, you’ll just focus on the same thing you have been and I’m sure spend the time deciding if I use Ai in my art or not.
