This is insulting to any one of intelligence. There were massive layoffs prior to AI taking off. AI took off in 2023 and employers were doing massive layoffs disguised as their RTO initiative prior to that. My bachelor degree came in handy within less than a year after receiving it. I obtained a promotion that required my new degree and ultimately led to a position that pays me 100% more after only 3 years. I have since hired 3 new graduates with a bachelor’s degree or higher into entry-level professional roles. Two of which decided to join my team over positions offered to them at Amazon. The list of qualified candidates were not large for any of the hires. However, I only sought candidates that went to college for specifically the job role that I had open. But I also recruited from anywhere in the US as I made the positions fully remote. My wife was laid off in 2021 and found a new job paying more in less than 3 months. She is also in the tech field. Separately, I have seen people pass up opportunities at my company for other opportunities as well. One guy even accepted the job, worked for two weeks and quit for something else. I think if you do not have a Bachelor’s degree and you do not have experience, it is rough. However, it’s been that way for decades. If you have your degree and haven’t been able to find a position in over a year, then you are doing it wrong. Seek assistance from a company specializing in employment services.
