There’s something missing here: a huge part of this must be related to the commodification of art. Are we really thinking of expressing ourselves and trying to communicate our unique human experiences and the view of our shared condition with other people or are we actually trying to make money? Generative AI allows us to apparently shortcut some of the cost of “producing” entertainment (or at least externalise it to the environment and copyright infringement). The generation of answers for the homework your friend didn’t want to do is exactly this point: she’s not engaged, and doesn’t care about the subject (at least in the way the homework is presented, which is a failure of the teacher and the surrounding college community too in some respects).
