Artificial intelligence was addressed in an eighties movie called Electric Dreams starring Virginia Madsen. This guy buys a computer system and it gains sentience when he spills champagne into it. I used to watch it all the time when I was a kid. It has that wonderful eighties movie innocence about it while also taking this "what if" scenario seriously. Now forty years later it's a very real issue and I think back to that film. We had NO idea what we would actually be in for.
