Appealing for copyright is a great idea. I think it's great he's doing that. No matter _why_ he's doing that, but I love that he's doing that. AI is finally showing the real cracks in our outdated stupid copyright system, and this guy going to appeal will finally make some people properly think about it. AI not being able to be copyrighted is stupid. Why can't we copyright AI generated things? We can copyright things made by humans, and we can TRANSFER this copyright to other humans and non-humans (organizations) So if copyright is transferrable, why can't AI generated content have copyright that is transferrable? What about AI noise reduction - that is, an image altered by AI - can we copyright that? What if we alter the noise reduction to generate "reduced noise" based on a prompt? Oh sh*t we created another AI image generator! At what point is something "AI generated"? It's easy to compare your pencil drawings and the results of an advanced AI model, but what about everything in between? A camera is a great example. What if my camera drops due to wind or an earthquake and it takes a great picture by accident. Can I copyright that? I didn't take it. Can I sell it? Nobody took that picture. It is completely generated by a machine. "but it's my camera!" Fine, I rented the camera, or it is a friend's camera, but I last touched it. Who owns the picture? What about a Samsung phone that uses AI to enhance the images you take, where the moon gets replaced by a "fake moon"? Is that image "AI generated"? What if I take a picture and ask an AI image generator to enhance it? What if I take the same picture and ask it to recreate an identical image? Is that generated image public domain? What about the image I put in? We are going to have to put a line in the sand, and that is absolutely not as easy as armchair experts and opinionated long-haired streamers are going to think it is. Therefore, I obviously strongly disagree with a lot of your rant here and I agree with this "artist": AI image generation is just a tool, like a brush, a disney magic brush, or a camera.
