Everyone should read Capital, Marx addressed all this over a century ago. This is a primary contradiction of capitalism: it is in the logical self-interest of a single capitalist to spend as little as possible on labor but any single capitalist will want all other capitalists to spend as much as possible on labor. This is related to the tendency of profit to fall over time, which has proven to bear out in the long time since Marx wrote capital. It is also important to understand that labor is basically the only way a capitalist can generate more profits in the production process, since every other expense (raw materials, overhead, etc) must be bought at market rates. Only labor value can be exploited to allow for surplus value. This is basically why capitalism is so unstable (so much so that we normalize it with concepts like "bear and bull market"). Another thing that should be considered here is how much human labor is embued/concealed ("extinguished" in Marx's parlance) in AI and automation. Not only is coding and training labor intensive, training data for LLMs and image generators is "primitively accumulated" (stolen) by AI companies. That is seriously bad for the creative workers whose art is being transformed into raw material for capitalist profits without consent or compensation but primitive accumulation has also always been a feature of capitalism. Another good example is how the government hands over billions in subsidies to Capitalists, and how capitalists benefit from public research. This is all pretty simplified and just the tip of the iceberg, but reading Capital will help you understand what's happening these days far more than studying Bourgeois economics ever will.
