The whole 'it's not stealing, the AI is using the data it was trained on to generate new original ideas/images the same way a human brain does' thing has never made sense to me. Because if that’s true (and honestly that's a big if) it would STILL make /the AI/ the artist, not the person typing in the prompt. Similarly, if you commissioned a human artist to draw something for you, you may 'own' the end product in terms of like, rights usage and stuff, but that still doesn't make you the artist who /created it/, and if you claimed to be people would rightfully call you a liar.
So either you're stealing from the artists that the AI is trained on, or you are (maybe not legally but still in a very tangible way) stealing /from the AI/.
