I work in research at a major university. AI is *not* going to replace the majority of highly skilled people. It's the new outsourcing. You remember how that was going to destroy all white collar jobs. How did that work out? I spend almost as much time correcting, cajoling, and steering AI to get it right as I do doing it myself. The keyword there is *almost*. It's a skill to prompt in a way that gives you something useful. If you don't prompt with a limited scope you end up with a mess. I'm sure that won't stop all the executive types to do mass layoffs, but those people sitting around without employment *and* new useful tools will do something. Disruptive technologies, companies, and organizations are going to take off.
