As a former truck driver, I see this as an unavoidable future. Trying to fight automation is like if the government mandated people ride a horse instead of drive a car in the early 1900's to save jobs in the industries supporting horses. Automation is not the enemy. New jobs will be created in other fields as they are lost in another. If the government gets involved and starts putting their hand on the scale with massive programs it's only going to do harm in the long run, like stopping innovation and trapping people in welfare.
