I'm an artist and here are my thoughts on AI art. Some images that I've seen with Midjourney are incredible. Some also mediocre. It just depends. This software is literally cranking out millions of images daily. Within those images some of them are going to look amazing. I think AI art is it own artwork tho and should not be mixed with regular human artist. That being said, there are also many other AI software programs. I've used a few of them. Sometimes they do a good job and other times, not so much. Sometimes the AI just gets stuff wrong with hands or intricate details. If you look carefully you can find the mistakes. Some artist don't like AI art and that is just fine, but I think the way to look at it is that its its own art. I, myself do lots of prototyping when I'm making a video game or story or whatever. And for that case I think AI art is great, because it lets me rapidly prototype something out so that I can get a better idea of what I'm trying to make. Its also an "idea" generator. if I am making a video game and I want to create an RPG with some cool characters, I can easily get ideas and such from AI software generating images. Even if the image just gives me the basic idea of the character that is enough for me to then advance the character all on my own. So in other words, I can generate lots of characters with AI and then pick which ones I like the best and then further evolve them outside of the software with my own imagination. And again for that usage, I see nothing wrong with AI art at all, because all its basically doing is giving you ideas for your project and allowing you to brain storm concepts.
