As a hobby photographer, the attempted comparison between cameras and generative AI really annoys me. I really only need to say one thing: Go ahead, buy a camera, make sure to set it to AUTO mode, and just point and click. See how far that gets you in photography. The angle to take the shot, how to fill the frame, how to work with the technology, and even choosing what weather and time of day to take the picture, all matter and are creative decisions. Good photographers can use pictures to tell a story, invoke a feeling, or even make political statements. Photography is art. Because at the of the day it's a human that's decided to go out into the wide open world, who saw something that gave them a feeling, and decided to share that with the world. That's what makes photography art, and a very human art, in my opinion. Lastly though. I actually have to go outside and find things or talk to people if I want to take a picture of something. And there's nothing quite like walking around with a camera and the intention to take pictures. You become very keenly aware of the beauty of the world, and I think that makes photography absolutely beat AI.
