Whats funny is on a very basic human level, as long as it can mimic emotions, tone, and language then humans will anthropomorphize it. As a species we are simple enough to enhoy and get attached to it. A perfect example is our attachments to our pets. As long as the AI reacts in a seemingly human way then that will be good enough even if its not actually conscious. Its a mirroring effect.
