Hello, career musician and AI programmer here. Thought i'd weight in. You mention why this is only happening to the visual arts and not music. The copyright and royalty laws are a lot more complicated when it comes to music, and also, a successful commercial AI music model has not been created yet, most likely due to the fact that music is a lot more difficult to categorize and describe than visual art. To put this in perspective - i can google image search any image i want, and view it (consume it) right then and there, for free. However, if i want to do the same for music, i have to either buy the song as a CD or MP3, or stream it via a streaming platform like Spotify. Furthermore, if i stream a song on the internet (even for free), multiple royalties are automatically generated and funneled (through yet another complicated process) to the songwriter and record owners. It is for these reasons, that a music-generation AI model would be an absolute legal nightmare to try to make, let alone profit off of. Finally, there is an intrinsic, baked-in human-element to popular music. This is not the case with visual art, despite humans being the creators of the work, they are not present in the final product. It is unlikely that a successful, mainstream music-generating AI will exist anytime soon. I agree with all your points in the video, and i sympathize with visual artists. I have a feeling the government will step in soon to stop all this madness - a landmark decision was already made in the US where AI-art was deemed "non-copyrightable". Visual artists deserve to have their work protected.
