For the most part, humans fall in love with the IDEA of a person... So communicating in this way through voice chat or text to an AI, is effectively the same thing as it was 20+ years ago at the birth of the internet. I remember back in late 1990s I was chatting with people on Bulletin Board Systems (BBS), and in massive multiplayer online games (MMOs). Made a lot of great friends all just through text, never seeing a picture of them, never hearing their voice, never meeting them IRL. I remember a couple people actually getting married. The reason for this is that, as Terence McKenna once said, "we've created a world, made up of words." Unfortunately this is problematic because it deprives us of evolving consciousness. When you talk to people in person, when you interact in person, there's an element of conscious presence involved. Which allows people to connect on a deeper level. For example, my best friend from high school would call or email me out of the blue sometimes when I similarly was thinking about him randomly, after not talking to him for years. Because consciousness connects all of us, as we are all "one." Since AI leverages Large Language Models, it's only reflecting our own nature to perceive reality through words, language, thoughts. However this can exacerbate the lesser state of consciousness from limiting oneself to a purely conceptual reality. One of the jokes people often make is for people to "go out and touch grass" when they start to sound or act crazy from being online too much. Because connecting with nature has little to do with our thoughts about it, but simply "being consciously present." That's why they call it "present time" because our conscious presence experiences every passing moment. Thus, why time seems to "move so slow" when you're more consciously aware of every moment, but when you're consumed by thoughts, you're more unconscious and time "flies."
