So AI art cannot be copyrighted. Here is my question. Why should I care? Does it stop me from generating AI images? No. Does it stop me from tracing over those images, fixing the mistakes, and selling the finished piece as handmade art to people willing to pay? No. Do I care that I cannot copyright what I technically made? No, I do not. Not being able to copyright AI art has zero impact on me or anyone actually using it. It is not some massive loss because it was never a real problem to begin with. Once the obvious AI errors are corrected through real manual work, the final result is indistinguishable from traditional art. At that point it is handmade. It can be copyrighted. I know that because I have been doing exactly that for years. I generate strong base images with prompts, repair the flaws myself, and then sell the finished pieces to whoever is willing to buy them. I recently sold one to an art critic who displayed it at a friend’s gallery. Some idiot paid ten thousand for it. Three minutes of generation, a bit of cleanup, and a wealthy buyer convinced himself it carried deep emotional weight. I laughed the entire time. That is my middle finger to a system that never did me any favors. Before AI, I was barely surviving, asking friends and strangers for money just to get by. Now I have leverage. Now I have income. Society and the government do not get to grind me down anymore just because I was not born into money, fame, or power.
