If anything I can be certain of with humanity...is that we can see an existential threat coming and only talk/warn about it. It's not enough of a threat/economic benefit to DO something about it until it's definitely too late. I can say that about the current political leadership in the US (whose actions have likely opened up a pathway of minimal oversite of companies driving AI into every facet of life) but I somewhat digress.
