I think the only way the companies creating AI will decide to end AI would be if AI started to dismantle capitalism to end poverty and war. That seems to be the best possible outcome of AI, but would probably lead to our extinction due to the greed of most powerful leading to a war against AI. We couldn’t win a war against AI without setting technology back 200 years or more, and I don’t know that there are many people interested in living without phones, computers, the internet, electricity, and everything that relies on any of these.
