The goal of AI in business could be aligned to radically cut costs with a race to take profit down to the narrowest margin that can keep the business safely operational. Worker ownership is a cancerous growth that makes this systemically impossible, as workers demand that they be kept on the payroll when there is nothing for them to do, while requiring more profit to share. Worker control would make for a company with all of the self-interest of an owner-run business, without the responsibility, insight, and acumen of those who created or built up the company in the first place. The proper goal of a competitive AI-run business is to carve its particular niche down from a $10 billion market into a $1 billion market. The future will likely have to see some form of UBI, but we need to find a way to make that morally corrupt and grossly unfair system work. The first goal is to minimize everyday life costs, allowing for the implementation of the lowest possible UBI while ensuring access to food and shelter. The second goal is to try and find a way to change UBI from the objectively parasitical thing it is, into a symbiotic relationship. People are owed nothing simply for existing, and they have no right to have others forced to provide them with anything. That said, millions starving to death in the streets is not an option either. While UBI is worse than any Handmaid's Tale dystopian fantasy, it may be inevitable, and we need to find some way to make it work.
