Actually, we don't really need a UBI. We just have to limit the amount of robots that every single human being can own down to 1, it must be tied to your Social Security number.
1) Purchase the robot, have it take over your current job
2) Continue receiving your current income
3) Go and enjoy your life with your friends and family, do whatever that's in your interest
It also means that the robot will have to be a carbon copy of your personality and skills, it also has to answer to your every wish with absolute certainty. We can avoid the turmoil that comes with a monumental shift in society, we can avoid AI gaining consciousness (it has to be a copy of you and think as YOU, but it is unable to think for itself, and it is made to obey your every wish), and we can head for utopia instead of dystopia.
