The interview with the former OpenAI researcher opened up an extremely thought-provoking perspective on the current AI race. I especially liked the analysis of the "misalignment" of AI (around [04:52]), not only the model not following the programmer's wishes, but also the incompatibility between technology companies and the common good of humanity. The concept of Super Intelligence and the self-improving scenario of AI predicted to happen as early as 2027-2028 (around [02:54]) made me shudder.
Daniel Kokotajlo was very brave in warning that the "iterative deployment" strategy of large companies can lead to unpredictable consequences (around [08:47]), because a small mistake can "snowball" into a global disaster when AI replicates itself. I completely agree that the public needs to "stay awake and watch" right now to create political will to demand transparency from AI corporations, instead of letting an economic and social revolution happen in secret. What do you think about this "transparency" solution, is it enough to control the speed of AI development? Please share your opinion!
