Art is very accessible, I am someone who does not quite want to be a full-on artist (By that I mean making it my job, I want to be an historian), yet I still enjoy drawing from time to time, for fun, or to illustrate some funny historical facts, and guess what? I managed to draw, EVEN WITH A DAMN COMPUTER MOUSE AND PAINT- (It wasn't good, but that's also a skill issue I have-)
And, I want to say that one of the most important part about history is art, because it tells a lot about when the artist live, how the artist lived, what happened when he drew/sculpted, and how the artist felt about specific events, which is GOLDMINES in periods not quite studied about, or where you have little traces, Antiquity and the Middle Ages (early) for exemple.
One thing I don't enjoy about AI generated images is that they tell nothing as such, and I can imagine future historians not getting that many informations that are quite precious in the field of history (Hell, Art is a speciality in history studies, where you study...well...art movements and all).
Now I have more things to draw (more pens, and even a drawing tablet since my father was pitying me), and I still find it very accessible...hell, one of my best piece of art was made during at exam with just a pen and no eraser...
