Yep, the only people who benefit from or promote GenAI are grifters and scammers. It is about quantity over quality; a numbers game. It's about devaluing art and the work of artists (and work in general too,) by flooding artist and public spaces with their trash and producing shitty viral memes so that no legitimate artwork sees the light of day. It's about outperforming humanity. Racing to make an easy buck and a grey goo of all our culture. And boiling the planet on the way. GenAI was never a tool for creatives or about assisting people with disabilities. It's about making as much shit as possible to scam people into buying something, clicking, engaging/raging. I know this all sounds grim, but these realizations definitely led me to find far more value in art and humanity. As a result I've taken to quiet quitting social media and the internet in general and prioritizing meat space over anything digital. I think these digital spaces are the crux of the problem because many of us have invested a lot in them across many years, and some of us have seen good solid returns, and some of us are just addicted - so it has a fairly captive audience, which makes it a prime target for scammers and grifters. But outside of social media, I can tell you that there's real life outside of brain rotted algorithms. I hope others join me here soon.
