People keep saying that this would collapse the economy. Why would it collapse? or better question why would this form of collapse be a bad thing? It really would actually not be bad at all. Now bear with me here. Every single job required for the infrastructure we have today is preformed by robots. In order to get some food you just need to go to the store and get some, no human ever had to do any work at all but there is food there in all of the variations and variety it is to day but not one human ever had to do anything to get it there at all. This leaves every last human jobless yes, but also completely free to peruse their interests free of the hassle of seeking a way to obtain shelter and food. This would cause one of two things. The first is: the economy would shift completely away from infrastructure, and be reborn as a strictly creative and entertainment culture based way of pricing things. Perhaps each individual gets a number of credits every month. You could gain more by entertaining and being creative with arts and the like, then spend the credits on whatever you wanted or award some of your credits to others whom you feel enriched your life that day. Humans in this world only need to create new things and deliver new experiences. You could earn the things you wish for by simply hosting a party, or by displaying a picture online and never have to fear about not being well fed and warm. In this world we become a race of entertainers and inventors carried along by our previous successes. The second is: The economy ends and becomes entirely pointless and unneeded. This is a world where everyone can have anything they want or need with no humans involved, no one must suffer or expend time to get he materials, refine them, craft the items, or cultivated the crops. So why is there even a need for money? There is no longer a limit to supply, therefore the amount of demand is pointless. Everyone is now equally well off, wealth is meaningless, there are no rich and no poor. With our robots mining asteroids in space for us to fill our demands for materials we march on into the future as we all ways have but now without limiting ourselves with the notion of money. Much like Star Trek. In ether case, we have succeeded as a species. We have completely eliminated our self dependence for survival and for comfort and have fully automated it. There is no need for us to do anything we do not wish to do. How can that be a bad thing? It can not, and it is not.
