I don't think this will be for a while. I work at bmw as a technician and I drive a bmw with active cruise control, which is designed to stop if it sees a car in front. I've had multiple problems with areas with hills and stopping behind 18 wheelers. We have a ways to go with our sensors for vehicles and possibly the roads will have to be designed for automatic driving cars, like sensors on the roads.
