we think about what the robot "wants" based on what our brains would have us "want", but our "wants" are the product of evolution. a robot is not evolved. it is built to perform the function it performs. for all we know, those robots that build cars spend all day long feeling "in the zone" and it fulfills them completely because it was what they were made to do. unlike humans, they _have_ a purpose and can know it _entirely_.
