When Apple was getting its start in a garage, the Digitals, IBMs, CCIs, Wangs weren't counter culture. And when wasn't after the mid 80's. Netscape was until they weren't.
The concept of a "countercultural idealist" tech company is marketing and rose colored glasses, not reality.
