I wish we could separate the AI "datacenters" from real datacenters that actually have a purpose and are needed. I used to work in a JPMorgan datacenter and its not for AI, its for handling financial data, cybersecurity and just used as infrastructure. Google, Microsoft, AWS all use datacenters to run their services which let things like reddit exist and let the internet function and in the case of Microsoft they use supercomputers and datacenters for weather prediction. AI "datacenters" are nothing more than processing farms so people can make fake images and use shitty AI as a search engine cause they're too lazy to do any real research.
