We may not be able to trust our eyes anymore, but there's still some forensic security. Generative models cannot produce images or video significantly higher resolution than the bulk of their training data without producing statistically detectable artifacts. So, for example, video models may produce 1080p video, but my 4 year old phone can shoot 4k. Given access to my device, it's possible to prove whether a video claimed to be produced by it is AI generated or not.
