This is spot in in my experience. I'm a freelance senior motion designer and have been self employed, gainfully, for the last 20 years. The creative industry took a huge hit right after COVID. I'd never seen anything like it. It had very little to do with AI. AI is certainly becoming very prevalent in our work but I'm just expected to produce more now that these tools can speed my work up. You shouldn't underestimate how much work has to be done alongside the AI tools though. Lots of budgets got cut after COVID in order to aid recovery, things are slowly gaining momentum again now
