Trust me AI is trying to go for Lawyers and fwiw the internet has cut millions of billable hours from lawyers( for example you can set up your onw llc or I know several people that have filed their own divorces) but using it in everyday work and completely replacing lawyers is a crime Also the incentives are just completely different between software engineering and Lawyers at the moment Law firms bill out hours their lawyers work so say a lawyer works 40 hours in a week the law firm bills out 40 hours charges 700 dollars and hour and gives the lawyer 350 dollars an hour to do the work. In Software Engineering Software engineers are paid a salary to build software that is turned into a business. Unfortunately our MBA class sees us as strictly cost and an ends to a business that makes money. Not as money makers as the more of us they have the more quality software can be made and a better ROI. This to say if a Law firm replaces all their lawyers with AI than the Law firm has no business. It is the AI company that makes the money. But if Facebook gets rid of their software engineers they still have a business.
