Yeah this touches on something important. Historically, the workers at least owned their own "labour". But AI, robots and automization are even taking away the labour from those who have nothing else. As a result, they lose all their leverage. In such a scenario, yeah I think a lot of people would simply be left to die of hunger. I mean at a global scale, this has been going on forever - world hunger has always been an issue, it just hasn't been visible to us living in the wealthy democracies. Those who are not useful to the system in any way will simply be left to die. I do think however that we are far off from this future. AI is impressive, but automating entire production chains is still in the far future. We most likely won't be seeing this happen in our own lifetime.
