Startups aren't where the money is though. 1.5 million doesn't even pay for one AI dev at Meta, or anywhere really. The top talent, and the billions in investment, are going to the top 5-6 firms and the infrastructure they require.  People are making some very simplistic comparisons to the dot Com bubble, ignoring the fact that the tech scene is very very different from 1996. Back then it was the wild west, and a start-up in a garage could build a business in any niche they could think of. Now tech is big business, and any small start-ups are more interested in getting acquired by Google than trying to IPO.
