Yeah there's a big lifestyle website I use that has 'groups' for specific topics and profiles that have sections for people's personal writings. There's a feed for popular posts and it also functions as a community hub for people to connect, organise events, some people use it for dating etc.
I have noticed AI had absolutely taken over. So many people just generating threads starters, replies, writings and even using AI to interact with others. I think the general age range of this site leans 'millennial and older' because hardly anyone seems to recognise the cadence of AI and loads of people fawn over the brilliant writing etc. it then gets loads of likes and shoots straight to the 'popular' feed. Few people call out that entire profile texts and all associated interactions, writings etc are pure AI generation. It's grating to have to sift through *so* much slop to find human written content.
But more than being irritating, it is a bit worrying in the sense that, if people are using AI to generate their profiles, write all their comments and private messages, then arrange meetings with people based off of that and people are turning up expecting this articulate, insightful, witty, empathic person they 'got to know' and finding themselves on a date with someone they haven't exchanged a single authentic word with...*best* case scenario is it's someone who struggles to express themselves more than it appeared for whatever reason, dyslexia or English as a second language. *Worst* case scenario is that the AI interaction is covering up a proper dodgy predator who has no qualms about using deception to lure someone to meet them.
You would think most of the AI stuff is people subtly fishing for visibility to redirect to their only fans or whatever (and that does happen) but from what I can tell, it's mostly dudes trying to gain visibility and credibility to meet women. I don't like it at all. It's beyond just wanting to sound clever and articulate when it's used to
