Thank you for composing this. Communication through words alone is more of a struggle for me than it is for most other people due to how my brain works. You've expressed what I could only begin to say; although there are some things in your video and those of others you featured I'm unaware of the meaning of. I'll likely share this video with others in defending my anti-(generative) AI stance. I think Shad so wants to be a good artist and to be recognized as such; and for AI to be a good thing that he's willing to twist facts and logic and fabricate reasons to defend it, much like people do for various small and big things. I dare to say a couple of the things he said actually work against his argument. I think some similes and a metaphor could be made regarding AI "art" and human-made art. Using AI to make images and claiming you're an artist is like using a calculator to solve difficult equations and claiming you're a great mathmatician.* Using AI trained on others' art to make images is like using others image in your photoshop image in such a way as to look "cool" without having intent behind it (I'm struggling in phrasing this properly). Using AI and claiming you're a great artist, citing your effort in figuring out the right prompts is like learning to play a wakeboarding video game well and claiming you're a great wakeboarder. Making an image with AI trained off of others' work and changing a couple details is a clever way of taking a copy of somebody else's piece of art, drawing or painting over it, and calling it your own. Making and sharing your art is something like making a wise statement that has variously applications depending on the context; or like a principle that has numerous applications. Although art can be interpreted in many ways, it's a form of communication. Can a conversation with a soulless robot be as personable as a conversation with a fellow human being? *-in that you're claiming to have solved these equation completely in your head instead of just knowing formulas and what to do. I think calculators can be great tools that save time and brain power.
