We're moving to AI because we can't get qualified entry level employees who will stick around for the long haul. The colleges aren't teaching them the things we need them to be able to do, and many of them hop jobs every 2 years, chasing wages, so they never develop any deep understanding of our particular industry. Meanwhile, the "lifers" are all hitting retirement age. My team was once 15 strong, and within the next year or two it'll be down to about 6, with no reduction in work demands. AI is proving useful as a tool to help us find information in seconds we'd otherwise be spending minutes and hours looking for.
