There's a long running debate in economics about technology and whether it comes for people's jobs. Some say that jobs get lost but new ones have always been created. And so far, that has been true. However, I think this point of view is naive. It forgets that people are lazy, and humanity has been trying to invent its way out of work since the beginning of work. So the debate isn't whether automation will take jobs or not, the debate is whether humans will be successful on their long running goal to find true, everlasting laziness. You either believe we are capable of inventing our way out of work or you believe humans do not possess the motivation, creativity, and intelligence to completely remove ourselves from the means of production. I for one am not that pessimistic on what we can achieve. We will invent our way out of work.
