Exactly. In house onshore devs with AI are orders of magnitude more valuable than a team of offshore devs, even if they also have AI. The critical issue was never that offshored devs couldn’t produce good software itself (though funny enough most couldn’t anyways) . It’s the difficult coordination, the asking of questions, the lack of meetings/involvement with clients, leads, and managers. It’s the inability to program flexibly, thinking of good design practices, infer functionality from suggestions and comments from higher ups, and understand the product/customer to know what they REALLY want, not just coding to the exact requirements. This is what makes offshoring suck, and it’s not reserved to India, Eastern Europe, Asia, Africa, or South America. You’re going to run into these issues anywhere.
