I mean, both.
AI IS extremely over hyped, however it still is extremely useful if used correctly. It’s not going to get you from point A to Z in a project, but it can help you solve A part 1, A part 2, A part 3, A part 4, then B part 1, connect A to B, then B part 3, etc.
