The truth is it’s not going to replace all of us, but it’s going to make how many of us are required a lot fewer. I’ve had many WTF moments with copilot where it has legitimately suggested to me the next five lines of code I was about to type by itself. Lines of code that required context from other files, and a semblance of what the application is overall. I literally sat there and said ‘what the fuck?’ Not just that, but also just not having to spend 15 minutes fighting out boiler plate functions. I recently asked it to write a function to convert ‘3m’ candle notation timeframe into raw seconds, minutes from any original format (1h in seconds, 33days in minutes etc). It spat it out in under a minute. No errors. So yeah, a lot less of us will be required overall.
