AI and LLMs are like mirrors. They do not think, feel, or experience anything. They just reflect the information we have fed them, reshaping it into patterns that seem intelligent. When people see consciousness in AI, they are really seeing their own ideas and expectations reflected back at them. Analytic idealism helped me see this more clearly. If consciousness is fundamental, then AI is not developing awareness. It is just arranging symbols based on what we taught it. It can simulate deep conversations, but there is nobody home. The illusion comes from forgetting that we are the ones behind the mirror.
