AI models are not going to cause mass casualties. People would do that, and it's easier to prevent harm if all the potential vectors are out in the open and we can adopt safeguards accordingly. Tell me about the government's great track record of banning things and suppressing the potential harms associated with them. Perhaps you'd like to start with prohibition? How about the war on drugs? How about backpage? How effective is the California government, lately, by the way? Because I have relatives there and it seems like they have ruined most of their state. Certainly I've visited San Francisco and it is a complete nightmare compared to what it was in 2004. It's still the state that can't even manage its own fucking power grid without rolling blackouts, right? These are the people you think are going to get AI safety correct?
