Yup. All this does is the sharpen the threat level that China is feeling on their local tech industry. China is not Iran or even Russia that do not have enough critical mass to build their own high tech industry. Semiconductors and AI have always been a national priority for China, now it has become a national security problem.
I expect that China's next 5 year plan is going to feature their own Chips Act. The next decade is gonna be interesting.
