The best interviews are the ones in which you're pairing fixing a real bug or implementing something in a company's open source project. The worst are leetcode/generic algorithmic problems that require knowledge of certain tricks to pass.
I feel like the difference is that the companies that do the former want you on your team, while the companies that do the latter are looking for reasons to disqualify you.
